My background in graphic design is extensive, encompassing a wide range of projects in both print and digital media. I have had the privilege of working with diverse clients and teams, which has honed my ability to communicate effectively and adapt to various design challenges. Moreover, my commitment to staying up-to-date with industry trends and technologies ensures that I can provide students with the most relevant and practical knowledge.
- Teaching Experience: I became a certified teacher in June of 2023 with my intern teacher year being the year before at a middle school in Porter, Texas. I taught last year as a Career and Technical Education Teacher at West Fork High School, specializing in Graphic Design, Animation, and A/V Technology. Within the last year of school, I brought in 8 different business owners for my students to experience what it is to do business with clients.
- Industry Expertise: My industry experience includes working at my own graphic design company called GidgetGraphix, as well as at a corporate business called PracticalLabs. As a freelance graphic designer, I learned the needs of many clients who needed help getting their smaller businesses off the ground. I preferred to volunteer rather than get a paycheck, as it meant I could take on more clients and to get to know the clients better on a personal level. Meanwhile, with PracticalLabs, I have learned how to work with bigger corporations that reach around the globe, while perfecting how to talk to clients of different cultures. Having to flip on the weekly between freelance and corporate means I have learned to be flexible in my mindset and creativity.
- Software Proficiency: I am proficient in industry-standard design software, including Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and more), which I can effectively teach to students of different learning styles and backgrounds without leaving a student behind.
- Portfolio Development: I have guided students in creating portfolio pieces while making sure they understand the difference between portfolio ready work and college level work.
- Commitment to Student Success: I am deeply committed to student success and believe in fostering a supportive learning environment that encourages creativity, critical thinking, and professional development.
